Not a Burglary

The police later made the proclamation that there was nothing missing from the Camm house itself. After checking the Camm residence and determining that there had been no forced entry, burglary was effectively dismissed as a possibility. The fact that the Camm house, as well as many other neighborhood residences, was often left unlocked didn't deter them from that belief.

The police didn't consider the possibility that the perpetrator may have been inside the house for a different reason or reasons other than stealing expensive items or cash or jewelry. Perhaps a stolen item could have been a pair of Kim's hose or some other such souvenir. Perhaps entry into the house was for sexual arousal. Those theories were never entertained, however.

Witness statements also indicated that there was a favorite necklace of Kim's that was missing and that she had worn a vest the day she was murdered. A co-worker also said that Kim was wearing a scarf that day. None of those items were ever found.
